The close of the year is time for reflection, taking stock of projects and their outcomes. It’s also a time of year for forward planning, for building on progress made. In looking back on what we at Praxis Spinal Cord Institute have achieved during 2023, I am excited both by the impact we’re making in the spinal cord injury (SCI) community and for the potential to continue this momentum in 2024.
This request for proposal (RFP) is to contract for Epidemiological and Clinical Data Analyses services to be provided to the Praxis Spinal Cord Institute (Praxis).

Meet Shannon Rockall, Regional Clinical Liaison, BC Interior at Praxis, who facilitates spinal cord injury knowledge translation workshops for clinicians in the regional areas of BC.
Congratulations to Team Specifix - Jessica Jenkins, Siobhan Wilson, Jaspreet Randhawa and Alex Bakfrom the University of Toronto - who won the 2022 Praxis SCI Ideation Challenge. Their innovation for monitoring bladder health in people with spinal cord injury earned a $25,000 grant.
The publication describes the key findings and lessons learned from an international pilot study that surveyed spinal cord injury programs in acute and rehabilitation facilities to understand the status of spinal cord injury care.
The ProACTIVE toolkit was developed with support from Praxis with input from more than 300 members of the SCI community in B.C. to change the game on activity. Physiotherapists and researchers from UBC and UBC Okanagan developed the toolkit to guide exercise done during rehabilitation and after returning to the community.

Meet Sam Douglas, IT Support Analyst at Praxis. Prior to his current role, Sam worked for Praxis as the Global Research Platform and BC Programs Support where his work focused on data, spinal cord injury (SCI) research, persons with lived experience (PLEX) engagement and innovation.
