Abner Yong is a seasoned executive in Canada’s life sciences sector, bringing over 20 years of expertise in accounting, corporate finance, treasury, and transactions.

His career spans leadership roles in a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, a multinational chemicals manufacturer, and a Big 4 accounting firm. He brings a specialized focus in business valuations and corporate governance, and is deeply committed to advancing healthcare through novel therapeutics.

As Chief Financial Officer of WEX Pharmaceuticals Inc., Abner successfully guided the company through clinical development and played a pivotal role in its acquisition and merger with Dogwood Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: DWTX).

Before WEX, Abner held senior corporate finance roles at a Vancouver-based NASDAQ/TSX-listed multinational chemicals company. There, he led initiatives in global budgeting, financial operations, debt and credit financings, treasury management, compliance, and talent development. Earlier in his career, he was part of Ernst & Young’s Transaction Advisory Services practice, where he advised on financings, restructurings, and corporate transactions across Canada.
